Coming to the library is always an adventure for our littlest visitors! Join us for early literacy fun with stories, songs, music, movement, and arts and crafts.

SUMMER FUN CLUB

Designed for kids entering grades K-3
With activities including arts and crafts, science experiments, games and movement, and special guest performers - every week will be an adventure!

LET'S GET MOVING WITH THE YMCA

Designed for kids ages 5-12
Y on the Fly is back! Break away from the screens and get active with fun movement-based games and activities!

As a Niagara County Youth Bureau Summer Food Service site, we provide free meals to ensure that all children continue to receive nutritious meals during summer vacation.

*7/29 - ISLAND ADVENTURE LEGO CHALLENGE: Great Aunt Gertie left your family a deserted tropical island in her will! Now you must work together to design and build your dream vacation spot - and problem solve if unexpected issues arise (and they will arise!) 


FAMILY DANCE PARTY WITH TURTLE DANCE MUSIC
LaSalle Library - Friday, August 9 @ 10:30am 

All Ages - Sensory-Friendly/Autism-Friendly
A novel 30-minute performance which will be accompanied by visual and sensory experiences. Kids will dance, sing, laugh, use their imaginations, and connect with new friends. The show is crafted to be inclusive for all children, including children on the Autism spectrum, and a great time for parents and caregivers.  We can share a Zoom link if you would like to join the program remotely from a daycare, camp or home.  Email nfyouth@nioga.org if interested.)

Monday, July 22: Pokemon Trading Card Game: 3-5 PM @ LaSalle Branch
Learn to play the Pokemon Trading Card Game! Battle your friends and learn more about the competitive side of everyone’s favorite pocket monsters. Thanks to Chrissy from the Nioga Library System for this program!

Friday, August 2: Tie-Dye: 2-4 PM @ NFPL Central Branch Makerspace
Learn how to twist, fold, rubber band and dye plain items to make beautiful designs. We will provide dye, rubber bands, and gloves, and will have some things available to dye, but please feel free to bring your own.

July 30: Intro to Plein Air Painting 
Have you ever wanted to paint a beautiful landscape while it is right in front of you? You might enjoy plein air painting! Join us to learn about how to travel with supplies and set yourself up for painting on location, and we will make an easel box to help you get started.

 August 20: Paint Night: Ocean Wave, featuring an Introduction to Palette Knives and Impasto 
Maybe you’ve seen Bob Ross and wondered why he scraped on paint with a small spatula. Or maybe you’ve seen a painting in a museum where the paint is 3 dimensional and wondered how they managed that effect. Join us to learn about that 3D painting technique, called impasto, while using a palette knife! We will use these to make a beautiful, textural ocean wave scene.


SUMMER SATURDAY CRAFTERNOONS FOR ALL AGES
Bring the whole family and get creative!
Main Library Makerspace - Saturdays from 1pm - 3pm

July 20: Button Making 
Drop in and hang out to make custom buttons with our button maker. You can bring pictures to use (finished button is 1 ¼ inches wide) or make your own designs with our supplies.

August 17Painting Garden Stones 
Whether making them for your own outdoor space, a potted plant, or as a kindness rock to leave in public for another to find, this fun and relaxing activity is a good time.

July 11: DIY Travel Journal Kit (All Ages) 
Whether you’re traveling around the corner or across the globe, it’s so much fun to document your adventures. Learn how to make your own travel journal kit and record those memories.

July 25: DIY Solar Ovens Kit (Ages 10+)
Science + food = a great time. Build your own solar oven and use the power of the sun to cook a tasty snack. Suggested recipes included.

July 31: No-Sew Avocado Pillow Kit (All Ages)
Avoca-do you know what you need? A no-sewing-required avocado pillow! Run don’t guac to pick a kit up today, National Avocado Day.

August 8: Paracord Bracelet Kit (Ages 10+)
Easy to make? Check. Looks cool? Check. Allows you to carry a long length of strong cord with you in case of emergency? Check. Learn to make your own paracord bracelet!
